The Hen & Chicken
The Hen & Chicken is a large pub at 210 North Street in Bedminster (BS3 1JF) with an upstairs room used for theatre, comedy and music. Wikipedia's list of theatres in Bristol gives it about 150 seats and says it has hosted Bristol Old Vic and Show of Strength Theatre Company; Show of Strength says its first season there opened in October 1989, creating pub theatre in Bedminster.
Time Out describes the upstairs function room as the venue's main draw, with live music, particularly jazz, and improvised theatre, and lists it among the best comedy clubs in Bristol. A pub history site traces landlords at the Hen & Chicken back to the 1790s.
