The Ill Repute is a quirky rockers' bar at 16 West Street that has made a name for itself in Old Market.

It has a unique music policy of rockabilly, surf, 2 tone and garage rock, played by resident DJs and live bands. The 1950s-style tiki decor sets the scene, and it also serves some of the best Mexican food in town.

The basement is used for gigs and screenings. Headfirst recently recommended its free cult film nights, such as a showing of Sergio Martino's giallo All the Colours of the Dark.

Upcoming bills include Mild West, The Starry Now and The Mos Ogle Loco, plus Big Red and more.

It is a fun alternative to Old Market's bigger venues, with Exchange and To The Moon nearby. Come for tacos and a cocktail, stay for a surf band and a dance to the resident DJs.
