Alternate

Alternate is a Bristol drum and bass promoter with a taste for heritage names and rare bookings, and Lakota is its usual home.

In June 2026 Alternate and Lakota co-presented the debut Bristol edition of Metalheadz' iconic Blue Note sessions, held as a day party in the Lakota Gardens with a line-up including Photek, Dillinja, Doc Scott and Mako.

Its next big night brings Photek back to Lakota on 23 October for his first Bristol DJ set in more than 15 years. His last appearance in the city was headlining Pinch's Subloaded at Lakota in May 2011. Total Science play a two-hour set celebrating 30 years of their label C.I.A. Records, with MC Blackeye, plus Sam Binary and Dead Man's Chest.

If you want drum and bass that leans to the deeper, more musical side of the genre, with pioneers who rarely play the city, Alternate's nights are worth following.
