The Plough Inn

The Plough Inn at 223 Easton Road is Easton's hidden gem: the kind of pub where you are more likely to find a heavy sound system rig than a fruit machine.
It is the regular home of Bristol steppas label Peng Sound and the go-to pub for roots and reggae events in the city. The programme also stretches to gypsy jazz, funk and soul nights, and punk and hardcore.
The Plough often hosts benefit and solidarity events. This week, for example, it is running the Bristol Anarchist Bookfair afterparty with punk, hardcore and bass until late, and a fundraiser for imprisoned activists with ska, jazz, jungle, dub and breaks.
Other listings include the hip hop night Cypher Space and Good Vibrations with Sean McCabe and Deli G.
The nearby Chelsea Inn focuses on punk-adjacent gigs, so the two make an easy East Bristol pub crawl. It is a proper local with a big heart, and a world away from the city-centre clubs.
